From Kathmandu: Guided Everest Base Camp Trek
About This Experience
This itinerary runs the standard 12-day Kathmandu-to-Kathmandu route to Everest Base Camp, with some flexibility built into how it's booked — a full-board meal package and the Kathmandu-Lukla flight can both be added or left as optional, depending on what you already have arranged.
The route itself follows the well-trodden path through Namche Bazaar — the Khumbu's trading and acclimatization hub — and on to Tengboche Monastery, where the trail passes through UNESCO-listed Sagarmatha National Park and its Himalayan wildlife habitat. From there it continues to Dingboche and Gorak Shep, the last village before Base Camp itself.
At Everest Base Camp (5,364m), the reward is a close view of the Khumbu Icefall and the glacier that expedition climbers use every spring. Most trekkers also add the short pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) for the clearest sunrise view of Everest's summit before starting the multi-day descent back to Lukla and the flight home.
